Apple Music: Why I love it

11:45:00 AM

I love music, a lot and since we are living in such an advanced time having access to music is very important to me.
Having tried a few music services (streaming) most of which were free and came with ads I wasn't quite satisfied with how they brought about their services. I also wasn't so big on that download your songs and and keep it on your phone and having to delete them when they we're no longer interesting.

Up until I got my self an iPhone and was introduced to the Apple Music app I can proudly say  I'm happy with their offerings. From day one with the 3 months free trial they offered (which was like awesome) I  was so blown away by how they arranged everything on the app.

Just before I start with this review I just want to say the reason for using the iPhone as my main device is because of it's superior audio quality and I have  tested and used other operating systems (Windows Phone  and Android)

Layout
Before Apple Music you had iTunes, iTunes was great but was limited and a little behind so when Apple Music came about it had a sort of refresh and it was so appealing.

The app is is divided into five sections.
  • For you
  • New
  • Radio
  • Connect
  • My Music

For you

This tab is where music is collected according to your likes and you will select this when you initialize the app, also when you like a song while you are listening it updates this section for you.

New
This section is where you get updates when something new is released by an artist (this is very good when  discovering new music like me).

Radio
Almost like radio but done the Apple way, you have your Beats Radio or Beats 1 (I actually don't listen to live radio that much) here you have a DJ hosted radio channel (if you're into that). The other way to listen to radio (my kinda way) is when you select your favorite artist and it plays music related to the artist that you like, so it plays similar styles of music.

Connect
If you like keeping up with everything your favorite artist is doing then Connect will keep you informed. From new song releases, album releases, new videos and live show dates also everything in between that.

My Music
My favorite tab as it aptly states 'My Music' is where all my personal music is stored. From all the other tabs that I mentioned is where the music comes from. For instance if I were on the For you tab, this is where apple shines with way it curates music and playlists.

When I see a playlist that I really like I can save it on my phone (sort of book mark it) but it goes further than that because I can actually have the whole
Playlist or song or even album available for offline listening when I'm nowhere near WiFi or I don't want to use data off my phone. A pretty neat feature I absolutely appreciate that Apple Music does, is update the music in your playlist on it's own when ever you are in WiFi range (this saves a lot of time,I don't have to go looking for new music).

I'm not really sure if a lot of people are using this service as it is a subscription service and I know there are lot of free music streaming services out there like Spotify  (not available for South Africa) Deezer, Pandora etc. I choose Apple Music for quality and convenience plus they have a huge catalog of music that the free services can't match.

This review is basically an intro for my future reviews that will go deeper into the music I listen to and showcase  what it does and offers.
